Vyrůstal v jedné z nejnebezpečnějších čtvrtí v celé Brazílii a denně byl svědkem vražd, násilí a kriminality, jež vyeskalovaly tragickou vraždou jeho otce, které byl svědkem před vlastním domem. Poté co byl odebrán z péče matky alkoholičky a svěřen náhradní adoptivní rodině, se rozhodl dát všechnu životní sílu do bojových sportů. Právě k těm ho totiž vedl jeho otec, který by na něj dnes byl velmi pyšný. Kurdský uprchlík z Íránu prožil značnou část dětství v uprchlickém táboře a když rodina konečně našla nový domov ve Finsku, přišel jeho otec o život v autonehodě. Majitel hnědého pásku v BJJ také nikdy nebyl ukončen na KO, což je při jeho skóre obrovsky vzácné!
