Já jsem vypadal spíš jak z reklamy na zubní pastu než jako zápasník, a tak mi začal říkat „hezounek z Prýglu“. A lidi se toho chytili.</p><p><strong>Nemůžeme zapomenout na tvůj loňský zápas s Bukim. Co tě naučil? Šel bys do toho znovu?</strong></p><p>Každý zápas mě něco naučí, ale ještě nikdy na mě nepískalo 11 000 lidí v hale, Buki tam měl neskutečnou podporu. Ta klec se doslova chvěla. Byla to velká zkouška mé psychiky a musím říct, že tam, kde by plno lidí nechtělo stát, jsem si to užíval a bavilo mě, jak jsou všichni proti mně. Samotný zápas jsem si prohrál sám, ale bylo mi ctí zápasit s Bukim a mám ho hrozně rád. A kdybych dostal desetkrát nabídku na Bukiho, tak to desetkrát vezmu.</p><p><strong>Zanedlouho oslavíš 10 let profesionální kariéry. Co ses za ty roky naučil, v čem ses nejvíc změnil a co bys udělal jinak?</strong></p><p>Jak ten čas letí! Naučil jsem se hlavně být dobrým člověkem. Zápasení mi samozřejmě zvedlo sebevědomí, ale (i když si to plno lidí, kteří mě neznají, nemyslí) nikdy jsem nebyl namyšlený a vše dělám s velkou pokorou. Miluji se učit nové věci, miluji tu dřinu a baví mě potkávat nové přátele díky sportu. Kolem sebe mám nejlepší tým a já si pořád myslím, že náš nejlepší čas teprve přijde. Věk je jen číslo, jde o to, jak se člověk cítí. A co bych udělal jinak? Neprohrál těch pět zápasů.</p><p><strong>Co bys poradil svému já v roce 2015, když jsi s profi MMA začínal?</strong></p><p>Víc poslouchej své trenéry, buď více s rodinou, neřeš tolik holky a dodělej si výšku.</p><p><strong>Na který zápas vzpomínáš nejradši, na který naopak nejhůř?</strong></p><p>Nejraději určitě na zápas s Davidem Moonem a nejhůř na zápas s Karolem, svou první prohru.</p><p><strong>Deiga-Scheck oznámil, že tohle bude jeho poslední zápas kariéry. Chtěl jsi to letos jinak?</strong></p><p>Kvůli weightcutu nechci zápasit víc jak dvakrát nebo třikrát za rok, zdraví je pro mě na prvním místě. Ale pravdou je, že se mnou letos pěkně vyj*balo…</p><p><strong>V čem myslíš, že máš oproti Deiga-Scheckovi nejvíc navrch?</strong></p><p>Mám hezčí úsměv a modré oči.</p><p><strong>A v čem je pro tebe naopak nebezpečný, na co si dáš pozor?</strong></p><p>Tvrdý postoj, dobrý pohyb.</p><p><strong>Jak probíhá současná příprava? Děláš něco jinak, než dřív?</strong></p><p>Více poslouchám své trenéry, více se zaměřujeme na postoj a pár dalších věcí, které jsme změnili.</p><p><strong>Co ti dává tvoje přezdívka a nástupovka? Je to součást tvojí hry?</strong></p><p>Nástupovku chci dát teď poprvé jinou. Dost lidí mi říká: „To ale nosí smůlu.“ Na to já říkám: „Přijde vám, že jsem letos potkal štěstí?“ Takže asi tak, je čas na změnu. Nicméně „Hezoun“ mi už zůstane, dokud nevydechnu naposled.</p><p><strong>Všimli jsme si, že v létě jsi hodně chodil po horách. Co ti tahle záliba dává?</strong></p><p>Hory, příroda, rybaření… Miluji čas v přírodě a přiznám se, že jsem letos dost bojoval se zády a chodit po horách byl jeden z pohybů, u kterého mě nebolela. Vrátil jsem se vždy plný energie a s čistou hlavou. Doporučuji.</p><p><strong>A jak se těšíš do Mnichova, kde nebudeš zrovna na přátelském území?</strong></p><p>Nikdy jsem tam nebyl. Jsou tam stejní lidé? Jak se tam mluví? Budou mě mít rádi? Je mi to úplně jedno. My si tam jdeme pro jasnou výhru a v neděli si dát trdelník na trhy v Mnichově. Of course, I don’t wish to lose, but if it happens, it won’t break me.</p><p><strong>When you started MMA, did you ever imagine you’d reach this level?</strong></p><p>At the beginning, I didn’t even think I’d be able to compete, let alone win anything. But I stuck with it, and it turned out great. Now, I firmly believe in my success.</p><p><strong>What happens when things don’t go according to plan in the cage? How do you respond?</strong></p><p>During a fight, I always keep a clear head. I don’t have a specific plan—everything happens too fast. I have a rough idea of how things might go, but I’m the type who loves to improvise. I’m used to tough situations in life, and I have no problem proving myself in the cage.</p><p><strong>What does your mental preparation look like?</strong></p><p>I clear my head, embrace challenging situations, and don’t let fear or nervousness hold me back. On the contrary—I use them to stay focused and alert.</p><p><strong>And what about your physical preparation? What does a day in the life of Max Holzer before a fight look like?</strong></p><p>My day includes two training sessions and a strict diet. I also coach youth and sometimes give private lessons. And what can we expect in Munich?</strong></p><p>My walkouts are always tailored to my opponent—it’s my way of keeping things lighthearted, entertaining the fans, and leaving a lasting impression. Do you have a clear vision of what you want to achieve in MMA?</strong></p><p>I want to compete at the highest level and make a living through the sport. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?</strong></p><p>Mostly, I’m recovering from training or working on my personal marketing. Despite a dramatic first round, which we’ve come to expect from Buchinger, there were some nerve-wracking moments when a quick end seemed inevitable. But he survived, didn’t give up, and it paid off. In the second round, he came at Nafuka with wild intensity, growing hungrier with each strike. Nafuka, caught off guard by this resurgence, quickly became overwhelmed. And after the third minute of the final round, it was clear – there had been enough hits. A Slovak miracle, the best performance of the night. Apollo turned the match entirely in his favor, delivering powerful strikes right until the last seconds to make a statement. In the end, Zhumagulov took the final round, mainly thanks to punches that seemed to belong in a different weight class. Aby fought valiantly, showing little fatigue, leaving fans wondering what might have happened if it went further.
